Islam Teaching Hospital is a tertiary care hospital attached with M. Islam Medical & Dental College, Gujranwala. This hospital is fully equipped with all the disciplines of training for undergraduate medical students.

Department of Surgery offers training to all medical students of MBBS course. The main objective of the department is to provide community-oriented and community need-based education so as to produce good young doctors who will be able to diagnose and manage the common surgical problems/emergencies prevalent in Pakistan; undertake the responsibility of management of common casualties or natural calamities and identify the surgical problems requiring referral to the appropriate specialists. The students of M Islam Medical College are posted here for Clinical Teaching/ Training. They get exposure to all kinds of surgical cases admitted from OPD and Emergency. They have ample opportunity of learning.

The allocation of teaching for the subject is theoretical lectures, Integrated Teaching Program for clinical practice in the affiliated teaching hospitals as well as the community-catchment areas as per syllabus.

There are 4 state of the art Operation Theatres. They are fully equipped for all types of surgical operations i.e., laparoscopic surgery, surgical oncology, vascular surgery, thoracic surgery, orthopaedic & endoscopic Urology. The surgical ICU equipped with ventilators and all types of basic facilities. All types of endoscopes are also available including cystoscopes, gastroscopes, and colonoscopes. The department is performing all type of elective surgeries, in addition also caters for surgical emergencies, being performed by a team of highly professional surgeons.
